VALVE OVERHAUL At Egbin Power Plant Plc

We carried out a complete Valve Overhaul and Maintenance project of over 250 valves for Egbin Power PLC. We completed this project at record time with full valve functionality restored and no valve failure recorded at the point of commissioning.

We came up with custom solutions for the repair of each valve after proper inspections were carried out, some of which include:
• Lapping of seat and disc/wedge/plug
• Filling and grinding
• Fabrication of damaged parts (external and internal)
• Desludging/Decoking
• Replacement of essential components like gaskets and gland packings
• Outright replacement of Valve if found to be beyond repair (in cases like broken bonnets and cracked valve body).

The major types of valves worked on were:
• Pressure Safety Valves (PSV) / Relief Valves
• Non-return Valves (Check Valves),
• Gate Valves,
• Plug Valves and
• Globe valves.

This project was completed successfully without any recorded injury or damage to equipment, as we ensured that health hazards and risks were managed adequately through our practical health and safety management system.

At the end of the project, we gave our professional recommendations for a preventive maintenance schedule of 4 – 6 months. This prolonged the Valves' lifespan, which improved overall asset energy production.
